Keeping your kitchen clean

Maintaining hygiene in the kitchen is crucial, yet it can quickly become the most challenging room to keep clean. Grease build-up is a common issue around the hob and oven, attracting dust and creating a grimy layer. Cleaning these areas requires special attention. For wood doors, wipe them with hot water and detergent, ensuring that any excess water is promptly sponged away to prevent damage to the wood joints. Once dry, inspect the surface for any scratches. To repair scratches, use matching poster paint to colour them, and then apply furniture wax for a good finish. Applying wood polish to all wood surfaces will not only restore their shine but also make future cleaning easier.

Laminate doors are easier to clean as they have a flush surface that is resistant to water. While there are numerous "grease busting" sprays available, it's advisable to test a small area on the inside of a door first to ensure that it does not damage or discolour the surface. Simply spray the cleaner, leave it for the recommended time, and then wipe it away. When cleaning metal areas like fridges and hobs, take care to protect the protective coating or stove enamelling, as powerful cleaners may have adverse effects. A final wipe with warm soapy water and buffing with a dry cloth will leave your cabinets looking as good as new, restoring their showroom-like appearance.

By following these cleaning tips, you can maintain a hygienic and visually appealing kitchen environment that you can be proud of.
